westendfestSITUATED in the renowned Oran Mor; a venue that has been the sight of many outstanding performances from both local and international acts, the West End Festival 2015 All Dayer is set to return on the Sunday 21st June 2015.

Entering its fourth year as an intriguing event on the city’s cultural calendar, previous years have saw fantastic sets from acts ranging from modern bands at the forefront of Scottish music such as We Were Promised Jetpacks and Fatherson to stalwarts of the nation’s scene including The Vaselines and BMX Bandits.

With little more than three weekends to go until the musicians grace the stage, we take a look at some of the acts that are likely to impress on the day.

The Phantom Band

Wildly experimental and never afraid to deviate from the norm, The Phantom Band have carved out an excellent career themselves thus far; continously garnering praise from fans and critics alike. Undergoing a creative purple patch in the past couple of years; recent times have saw them release not one but two great records in the form of Strange Friend and the equally enthralling Fears Trending. Expect them to provide an electrifying set.

Marc Rooney

Frontman of the popular and hotly tipped Pronto Mama, Marc Rooney will take to the stage of the West End Festival All Dayer onto unfamiliar territory; performing as a solo artist as opposed to being flanked by the incredibly tight band that he usually performs and records with. Releasing little information as to what can be expected from this rare solo outing, it’s sure to yield interesting results.

Tuff Love

Comprised of Julie Epstein and Suse Bear, Tuff Love are a band that steadily began to build a reputation as one to watch from within Glasgow’s bustling scene. Impressing with their 2015 EP Dross and wowing crowds during their recent support slot with Ride at The Barrowlands, the duo are sure to score some new fans with their unique blend of fuzz laden rock and poppy choruses.

Stanley Odd

At the forefront of Scotland’s burgeoning hip-hop scene alongside acts such as Hector Bizerk, Stanley Odd deliver thought-provoking diatribes that are both politically charged and socially aware alongside sumptuous vocals and excellent instrumentation. Steadily gathering a loyal fanbase since their inception in 2010, the Edinburgh based group are sure to bring an outstanding and unique set to proceedings.

Kathryn Joseph

Featuring hints of artists ranging from Bjork to Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, Kathryn Joseph has went from strength to strength over the past year. Shortlisted for this year’s Scottish Album Of The Year Award with the breathtaking and ethereal Bones You Have Thrown Me and Blood I Have Spilled, take advantage of the chance to see one of the nation’s most innovative new talents perform in an intimate setting.

We Were Promised Jetpacks

One of Scotland’s most established bands in the realm of alternative rock, Edinburgh’s We Were Promised Jetpacks have released a number of prolific albums and toured extensively throughout the world. Having released another well received album last year, expect them to tear the house down as they revisit the event with a stripped back set.

Man Of Moon

A band that has grown in leaps and bounds over the past year or so, Man Of Moon have found themselves beset with ever-increasing hype from various corners of the industry. Impressing throngs of music lovers with their set at Live At Glasgow and their performance in support of The Phantom Band, look for them capitalise on the recent success of debut single ‘The Road’ in front of the Oran Mor crowd.
