THE STROKES’ Albert Hammond Jr has shared a heartbreaking new video to accompany ‘Muted Beatings’.

Starring Portia Doubleday, the clip explores the joy and heartbreak of love; switching between romantic, sun-drenched sequences and darker more troubled images. With the aim of visualising the notion that “love is the one thing that transcends time and space”, the narrative builds up to a moving finale in which all becomes clear.

‘Muted Beatings’ will feature on Hammond Jr’s upcoming album Francis Trouble which arrives on 9th March via Red Bull Records. Dealing with the death of his stillborn twin who was lost to miscarriage, it is set to be his most personal record to date. Hammond Jr said: “What the music says may be serious, but as a medium it should not be questioned, analyzed or taken too seriously. I think it should be tarted up, made into a character, a parody of itself. The music is the mask the message wears and I, the performer, am the message.”

Albert Hammond Jr will support Franz Ferdinand on their upcoming tour dates including a show at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on Saturday 17th February.
