TODAY we bring you the debut single from Barnaby Keen, a singer and multi-instrumentalist who has teamed up with South London label Plum Cuts.

Boasting a rich musical background that stretches from Moroccan electronic Gnawa band Electric Jalaba to dub-influenced indie outfit Flying Ibex to Latin American music and finally to an underground scene that has produced Kae Tempest, Yussef Dayes, and Mellah, the singer-songwriter can be described as a musical polymath.

Written alongside his brother Nathaniel  after experimenting with soundscapes on an app, his debut single is a gentle, lo-fi affair with psychedelic hues and reflective lyrics. Oscillating between melancholic verses and more cathartic choruses, it’s a subtly hypnotic listen that alludes to a relationship being under strain.

On working alongside producer Oli Barton-Wood, he says ““Knowing that I’m sitting on lots of unreleased music, he decided to give me a kick up the arse to get it out,” Barnaby says of the partnership. “I’ve been involved in a lot of different musical projects over the past few years,” he adds, ‘so releasing my own songs kept being pushed to one side until now.’
