The band: Hailing from Oxford, Mississippi Bass Drum of Death brain-child John Barrett self-produces and records material to devastating affect. The band released their debut LP GB City in 2011.
The sound: Bass Drum of Death released a dynamic LP in 2013- self-titled, it cemented the band safety in the temperamental nook of garage and psych rock. Picking up from where the psychedelic ‘Such a Bore’ left-off, Black Don’t Glow features echoing vocals, trippy riffs and a balls-to-the-wall riveting beat. It plays with a much slower tempo too, and features some strong, melodic riffs and stand-out instrumental parts.
The lowdown: This song will appear on a 250 press cassette compilation for Record Store Day 2014, featuring a mix of Oxford Mississippi-based bands. The band is touring the USA this Spring but are yet to release any Europe dates for 2014.
