bestcoastlaTHE BAND: The brainchild of Bethany Cosentino and guitarist Bobb Bruno, Best Coast have been revered as one of the finest purveyors of American slacker pop for several years.  Finding themselves in unfamilar territory and with a harder edge injected into their previously established sound, the band have released the video for the astounding ‘Heaven Sent.’

THE SOUND: Opening with gentle guitar strains that hark back to the 90’s heyday of US alt rock, ‘Heaven Sent’ centers upon an intricate and aggressive drum beat complimented a pitch perfect vocal performance from Bethany. Embracing a sound that contains elements of acts such as Rancid and The Bouncing Souls, it sees the band on confrontational form.

THE VIDEO: With Bethany dressed all in white and her head adorned with a crown of roses, it depicts a stark contrast to the rest of the line-up who are clothed in all black attire. Created in conjunction with Never Hide Noise, the track’s accompanying visuals transcends the standard performance video due to its frequent screen wipes and the many petals that spiral around the group.

THE LOWDOWN: Their forthcoming LP California Nights will emerge on the 4th May 2015 via Harvest, whilst the band have currently announced a solitary UK date at London’s Electric Ballroom on the 20th May 2015.
