AS their debut album edges ever closer to being released, there’s a substantial amount of buzz surrounding Sheffield based four piece Best Friends.
Revered among musos as a band that have an insatiable ability to purvey music which encapsulates both the spirit of punk rock and something altogether more widely accessible, their fun-loving spirit tends to shine through with every note.
Stoking the fires of hype which surround their debut full length, they’ve released the video for the engrossing ‘Cold Shapes.’ Every bit as infectious and attention grabbing as some of their more bombastic tracks; ‘Cold Shapes sets out with something of a dreary and apprehensive aesthetic; added to the frantic and off kilter percussion that resonates throughout.
With hazily delivered vocals that recall slacker pop artists ranging from Pavement to more modern day fare such as Wavves, the track soon lurches into bold new territory thanks to the absolutely addictive chorus which will resound around your brains for hours after your first listen.
With a suitably psych based video directed by Adam Mondon to accompany it, ‘Cold Shapes’ stands out among some of their most intriguing output to date.
