EDINBURGH artist Billy Got Waves is releasing his debut album in three parts this year, starting with ‘Rocket Boy Act 1′ which has arrived today.
Working alongside producers Baygee and S-Type, Part 1 features four tracks, one of which has a guest vocal from none other than Young Fathers’ Alloysious Massaquoi.
An journey of introspection, the rapper delves into his partying past and confront his demons, with the first three tracks building up to a crescendo with the fourth ‘Low / Angels’. In his own words, the track ‘literally feels like I’m having an outer body experience by the chorus…. basically me seeing the light or almost dying on the dancefloor or maybe a bit of both.’
Opening in incisive fashion with his slick flow delivered over a woozy, beat-heavy instrumental, it gradually veers off into something more pared back and contemplative.
