Blur-008ONE of the quintessential bands of the last 30 years, Britpop icons Blur have always commanded a fanbase which dwarfs that of most bands, pulling in both casual music fans and the more austere listener in equal measure.

Given the response that their every move is met with, the Damon Albarn led band clearly decided to harness their adoring public for the accompanying visuals for latest single ‘I Broadcast’, allowing fans to send in video clips inspired by this year’s The Magic Whip LP.

The track itself is one of the most upfront moments of the record, teetering between understated cool and frenzied exultation for the majority of its running time. Powered by a slinking bass from Alex Jmes and a brash driven riff that sounds as though it was more likely to be birthed at the finger tips of Springsteen than Graham Coxon, it’s a remarkable piece of work.

The visuals are also a treat and are filled with joy as fans perform the track in their living rooms, plead for the band to tour in their homelands, provide inspired animations and generally just express their admiration for a cornerstone of British music.
