POP-ROCK quartet Bottle Rockets have shared their shimmering new single ‘Backburn’.
Taking their name from a Better Oblivion Community Centre song, the band initially bonded over a shared love of eighties new wave and modern rock – offering a fresh perspective on the genre with their striking combination of lush vocals, shimmering guitars and punchy melodies.
And since releasing their debut single last year, they’ve started to cultivate a strong reputation in and around the local music scene, securing support slots with the likes of Uninvited, The GOA EXPRESS, SPINN and Voodoos.
‘Backburn’ sees them build on this growing momentum, luring the listener in with luscious soundscapes and emotive vocals. Opening in sombre fashion, the track gradually opens up with a surge of guitars and driving chorus.
Murray explains: “Backburn is about giving your all to someone and never really getting the same back in return. Knowing this will hurt you, but still sticking around anyways. Sometimes toxic love feels better than none.”
