‘PARALYSIS’ is the third single from Inverclyde post-punk outfit Bride released ahead of a King Tut’s headline show on January 14th.
Crediting contemporary post-punks Fontaines D.C. and Wolf Alice as major influences to their sound, Bride provide a haunting reverb-soaked chorus surrounded by themes of insanity and paranoia derived from personal experiences within the band.
Produced by Ronan Fay at Glasgow’s Green Door Studio, the track is anchored by sounds of jangly guitars and eerie vocals. The acclaimed producer has worked with established Scottish names such as Paolo Nutini, Simple Minds, and Belle and Sebastian.
Vocalist Caragh Power comments on her experience with sleep paralysis and how it influenced the lyrics behind the track, “‘Paralysis’ is about the subject of sleep paralysis. It talks about the fear of the subject but how overtime it can become less of a fear and more of a routine. The lyrics also look into the denial of this subject and how it can affect someone’s thoughts towards their sleep paralysis.”
The lyrically brooding tune precedes a headline show at King Tut’s as part of the New Year’s Revolution festival, with the quintet’s very own show taking place on Sunday 14th January with support from Voitures, Aim For Two and Whitney King, tickets available here.
