IT may feel as though it’s been an eternity since the last time we heard new music from Memphis’s own Cage The Elephant but based on the strength of what has now came to light it’s been worth the wait.
Returning after the 2013’s phenomenal Melophobia, the band have provided us with a welcome sample of what to expect on their upcoming record with ‘Mess Around’, an incredible new track produced by none other than The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach.
Brimming with sun drenched guitar lines, idiosyncratic vocals and an aesthetic which harks back to the glory days of blues rock, the band have accomplished something remarkable in that they’ve managed to progress musically while remaining within the territory which has awarded them such a fervent fanbase. With Matt Schultz’s delightful drawl driving the track forward in a nonchalant fashion and the use of rapid fire guitar tangents which exude supreme confidence in their material, it looks like it’s an exciting time to be a fan of Cage The Elephant.
The band’s new record Tell Me I’m Pretty shall be released on the 18th December 2015.
