FOLLOWING a sold-out show at Poetry Club last night, Scottish singer-songwriter Cammy Barnes has shared a rousing new single called ‘Beauty In These Streets’.
An instantly infectious track, it’s buoyant with heartfelt lyrics and soaring choruses, taking his stirring folk-pop to new heights. Co-written with his mum, it’s all about finding the beauty in the everyday.
Speaking on the track, Cammy said: “I’ve noticed that, often in the city, people walk by one another, rarely lifting their heads to smile – or even look away from their phones at the blue skies. I really believe that even a smile or a ‘hello!” – just one small moment of connection with somebody – can really turn their day around. I was speaking to my mum about this when she dug out an old poem she’d written about the same thing and I knew I had to write a song about it.”
