SINCE
being accidentally stumbled upon by Daptone Record’s co-founder Gabriel Roth during his stint performing as James Brown impersonator ‘Black Velvet’, Charles Bradley has steadily risen to become one of the most prominent voices in modern soul revivalism.

Having left listeners speechless on the starkly honest No Time For Dreaming before diversifying into more straightforward balladry on Victim Of LoveBradley has revealed ‘Changes’, the incredible title track from his forthcoming album.

Taken from Black Sabbath’s Vol 4, Bradley’s re-imagining of the classic track amplifies the melancholic tendencies to a whole new level yet simultaneously guiding the way to the light at the end of the tunnel. Bradley’s pained inflection sees him evoke the tortured yet hopeful delivery of Otis Redding on classic compositions such as ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’, providing the track with that classic Stax vibe which he’s became so adept at capturing. Bradley’s cover is one that will stop you in your tracks and it’s hard to imagine anyone that wouldn’t be immensely moved by this world weary singer bearing his battered soul for all to assess.

Changes will be released on the 1st April 2016 via Daptone.
