BRIDGING the gap between pop, electronic and spacey psych-rock, South African outfit Diamond Thug have shared a new single called ‘Purple Skies’.

The song showcases the dreamier side of their sound with hauntingly beautiful lead vocals floating over a soft, twinkling piano melody and ethereal soundscapes.

Slightly more stripped back than their usual synth-laden songs, it’s a song that gently unfolds like a lullaby – you can’t help but feel entranced as the band lure you into a state of daydream.

The track arrives with a cinematic video courtesy of Meghan Daniels, which documents the relationship between two brothers. She says “‘Purple Skies’ follows the relationships between two brothers, and is an exploration of loss and grief, as well as an ode to life, love and youth. ‘Purple Skies’ asks the question, how do we deal with the death of someone close to us when it was this person who gave us life? ‘Purple Skies’ breathes a brief world into existence, filled with joy, love, anger, loss, and moments of shared celebratory joy.”
