DILLON SQUIRE has kicked off his solo venture with the release of his debut single ‘Allison Arms’ – and we’re delighted to unveil it as our Radar Track of the Week.

The singer-songwriter has turned his hand to a number of musical projects over the last few years, rising through the ranks of the UK music scene as lead singer of Glasgow alt-rock four-piece Heavy Rapids. And while they achieved a lot in their few years together, Squire has taken the time since their split in early 2020 to hone in on his own material and carve out a new sonic identity, entirely of his own devising.

Enter ‘Allison Arms’, the debut single and the first chapter of what is sure to be a compelling journey. An already proven songwriter, the song showcases a different side to Squire – a far cry from the blistering alt-rock we used to hear from his former outfit, ‘Allison Arms’ is a bittersweet love song, brimming with romance, wistfulness, and heartfelt lyrics.

In his own words, it ‘encapsulates the fear that you might lose someone you’re deeply devoted to, however, you find relief when you make it through the tough phrase’.

Inspired by a visit to the Allison Arms pub in the south side of Glasgow, the track shifts between wistful, melodic verses, which allow his tender vocals and heartfelt lyrics to shine, and surging, guitar-driven choruses – all before building up to its uplifting finale.
