THOUGH they style themselves as a ‘solo project’, with “one mouth, one set of lungs, one mind and four legs”, collaborative project DRINKS are comprised of Welsh singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon and White Fence’s Tim Presley. The duo released their debut LP Hermits on Holiday on 21st August 2015 on Birth Records and Heavenly Recordings.

Newly released video for track ‘Laying Down Rock’ totally marries into the arty, psychedelic lo-fi vision explored by Presley and Le Bon under the Drinks guise; With lurid colouring, trippy camera effects and bizarre, distorted footage of a man in drag shaving, dancing and being given flowers by an ambiguous masked figure, the video for ‘Laying Down Rock’ undoubtedly captures the essence of Drinks’ Deerhunter-esque debut album.

There’s something a little unnerving about the surreal qualities of the video, which is disorientating and, at points, downright strange but Drinks have certainly been successful in creating a visual aesthetic which perfectly mirrors their lo-fi sound.

The band play Glasgow’s CCA on 8th September 2015. Scroll down for full UK tour dates.
