THE BAND: American Rock band Eels have recorded no less than 10 studio albums since their debut  Beautiful Freak back in 1996, from that point they have truly cemented themselves as one of the great rock bands of the last two decades. A main reason for this is down to the cultured songwriting abilities of frontman Mark Oliver Everett; gaining recognition from legendary troubadour Tom Waits who stated that he “eagerly awaits” each new release.

The Sound: The track goes against any presuppositions we would have about Eels;  usually notorious for their direct brand of high-octane Rock n’ Roll. However many fans of the band will already be well aware of these impressive levels of versatility shown with the group often visiting both extremes; especially more recently on The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett. Covering Elvis is always a challenge and even more so when it’s a classic such as ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’, but it is peformed beautifully, made more effective by the fact that it is so contrasts so highly with other raw and energetic perfomances.

The Video: The clip contains an intimate live performance from the sold-out show at the Royal Albert Hall last year from their 53-show world tour, frontman Mark Oliver Everett perched behind a piano and making the stunning rendition of the classic his own.

The Lowdown: A concert film of the live performance at Royal Albert Hall will be available on April 14th along with a limited edition Vinyl and CD.
