IT is no stretch to say that the latest effort from Oxford based outfit Foals is the most anticipated album of the summer, with every single snippet we receive of its contents being met by an absolute frenzy.
Demonstrating an evolution in their sound through the tracks that have been aired thus far, it appears to document the maturity that was displayed on Holy Fire being taken to a logical conclusion. Returning with the studio version after initially airing the track via their Maida Vale session, the band have released a lyric video for the beautiful ‘A Knife In The Ocean.’
A slow burner that reaches the grand proportions of previous epics such as Spanish Sahara; the track’s crucial elements can be defined as its supple percussion, an entirely bewildering central guitar part that is interspersed throughout and the ever enthralling vocals of frontman Yannis Philippakis.
Clocking in at just under seven minutes, it’s sure to be one of the centrepieces of what is shaping up to be their most consistent and accomplished record to date.
What Went Down will be released on the 28th August 2015 via Warner music.
