The band: You would’ve needed to retire under a rock in an internet-less land for almost the entire of 2011 to not remember Foster the People’s dynamite track Pumped up Kicks; with its simple yet infectious riff and summer-jam lyrics, it became a total hit for the band. Luckily then, three years later, the American band have nailed it with 2014’s effort Coming of Age.
The sound: It’s poppy and light, but there’s no denying you know the basic hook by the time the track draws to a close. With a repetitive chorus and plenty ‘woooo wooooo’s’ to hum around to, Coming of Age puts Foster the People in the running for a hit track of 2014 and we’re only two weeks in.
The video: Who doesn’t love street art and a time lapse? Coming of Age is hipster meets geek, and visually- its wonderful. Showing film-lapsed footage of an artistic project being created over bright days and head-torched darkness, its relevant and relative to the audio.
The lowdown: New album ‘Supermodel’ is due for release on 18th March 2014, the new single is taken from that release. The new album tracklisting is below the video.
