The band: Friends in America are a four-piece based in Glasgow, who self-released their debut album What It Is To Be, back in June 2013. The group may not take themselves too seriously – they describe their sound as “Alternative (to what) Pop (though unpopular) rock (without the roll)” – but they definitely have serious ambitions.
The sound: Their new track “The More I Have, The Less I Own (The More I Learn, The Less I Know)” (listen below) is a slightly slower and less up-beat track than their usual. It still incorporates their spare and ambient sound, mixed with the pop that makes them so listenable. The title could be a spin on Paul Weller’s song ‘Changing Man’ where it says “the more I see, the more I know, the more I know, the less I Understand.”
The lowdown: The band are playing the GoNorth Festival this year, that takes place on the 4th and 5th June and will also be playing the Tenement Trail in October. Earlybird tickets now on sale for the Tenement Trail.
