AFTER proclaiming that her new album was inspired by artists such as Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen which she affectionately referred to as ‘bro art’, the world was intrigued and perhaps mildly apprehensive to hear the first snippet of Grimes’ new LP.
But how dare we doubt Claire Boucher, who has all at once proved that our concerns were misplaced with ‘Flesh Without Blood/Life In The Vivid Dream’, two incredible tracks which have been amalgamated into one video.
Arguably more poppy than the Grimes we once knew, ‘Flesh Without Blood’ is a dizzying affair which is buoyed by a driving bassline, swirling synths and the ethereal vocals which have became such a staple of her sound.
‘Life In The Vivid Dream’ is a much more sedate number, stripping back to her sound to the bare essentials and delivering a poignant message which is as touching as anything that she’s ever produced.
Grimes’ new LP Art Angels will be released digtally on the 6th November before appearing physically on the 11th December via 4AD. Check out the video below:
