AFTER all the anticipation and speculation that has occurred in recent months, we’re now on the brink of hearing precisely what Grimes’ first new album in three long years has in the locker.
With a great deal of internet talk pertaining to a drastic overhaul of her sound to her own comments that cited ‘bro-rock’ as a central influence upon the project, the music world is abuzz as we prepare to be engulfed by what Claire Boucher has conjured up.
Not content with stirring the pot enough thanks to the steady stream of tracks from the record that have made their way into our ears thus far, Grimes has provided us with one last preview in the form of the dramatic album opener ‘Laughing And Not Being Normal.’
Bursting into life with dense and unsettling strings which only add to the sense of occasion which surrounds this release, Grimes’ angelic voice soon pierces through and brings things toward a hulking conclusion which ends with a menacing yet enthralling swell.
We’d be lying if we said we weren’t ecstatic at the prospect of hearing Art Angels in full.
