Holy Esque at Rough Trade-14
INDISPUTABLY
one of the breakout bands of the year, Holy Esque’s highly emotive take on post-punk has left critics and fans from all over the globe in a state of catharsis and awe.

In spite of the fact that their debut album At Hope’s Ravine is laden with  brooding, haunting and deeply combative music,it turns out that they’ve also got an affinity for classics 80’s pop.

In the layover between their next jaunt around the UK and their homecoming at Glasgow’s Art School, the band have unveiled a playful cover of Robert Palmer’s ‘Addicted To Love.’

Never striding too far from the original but injecting a dose of underlying menace to the proceedings, the band’s take on the late artist’s classic track is refreshed by Pat Hynes’ guttural vocals and the hypnotic instrumentation that that’s became so synonymous with their sound.
