The band: Honeyblood are a Glaswegian duo comprising of Stina Tweeddale on guitar and vocals and Shona McVicar on the drums and vocals. They recently announced that their self-titled debut album would be released on the 14th July via FatCat Records.
The sound: ‘Super Rat’ (listen below) is the latest single to be taken from their up-coming album. We first heard it last year when they played it at T in the Park as part of T Break, and loved it instantly. The lyrics are a tirade against an unknown individual, “scumbag, sleaze, slimeball, grease, you really do disgust me,” which is contrasted with sweet, lilting vocals and a delicate backing. It makes the sentiment all the more potent when it is delivered so innocently.
The lowdown: They will be doing a short tour of the US towards the end of July, before embarking on a headline tour of the UK starting in Glasgow on the 13th September at the CCA, and finishing in Brighton on the 27th.
