IONA ZAJAC has released the second single from her upcoming EP with Edinburgh label Post Electric Artists.
‘Red Corn Poppies’ is an intriguing track featuring delicate vocals and an acoustic folk melody that will send shivers down your spine.
The lyrics are to Zajac’s songs were formed from old poems that she wrote in her Glasgow flat.
“I learned how to play guitar. I found some old poems. I turned them into songs. This is the second of those four. ‘Red Corn Poppies’ was recorded in my flat in Ibrox, Glasgow 2020, immediately after I’d finished writing it. Calm in my bedroom, while the world went mad. See if you can hear the clang of kitchen pots.”
The calm and sanctuary of Zajac’s flat are echoed down the winding path of the hauntingly beautiful lyrics.
“Time lasts the same last time. For moments we had that time to lose.”
If you want to hear her live this summer she will be playing at festivals Hidden Door, The Great Eastern, and Doune the Rabbit Hole.
