NO stranger to the local live circuit and with a number of impressive support slots under his belt, John Rush has been a mainstay of the Glasgow music scene since his early days as the frontman of Shine. Taking different guises along the way, from frontman to standalone singer-songwriter, he appeared in a number of different bands before diving headlong into his own solo material; the result of which has been his debut album ‘Beneath the Apple Tree’.
Blessed with a distinctively rugged brogue and a deeply honest and open-hearted approach to songwriting, Rush has gone back to his roots on the LP which arrived at the end of April. Rooted in traditional folk songwriting in the style of Dylan, his talents are most easily summed up by album highlight ‘Drink With Me’; a tender acoustic number which sees him reach out to a lover for companionship over a late night drink.
Tenderly delivered over acoustic strokes, check out the track below.
