PAISLEY-based singer-songwriter John Rush has shared details of a deeply moving new single called ‘The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree’, now available to pre-order.
Rush has unveiled new emotional depths to his music this year, as heard on ‘Maybe It’s Trust (Darlin’ It’s You)’ and ‘The Older The Grape (The Sweeter The Wine)’ – the former was a raw and heartfelt depiction of a relationship destined for the closure while the latter offered a more upbeat reflection that left us with a message of hope and patience.
This time, the singer-songwriter reflects on his relationship with his father and it makes for a deeply moving listen. Intimately personal yet universally relatable, the minimalist production allows his evocative lyrics to shine, as he delivers them in his inimitably rugged and soulful style.
Not only that, but Rush continues to expand his rootsy folk sound with some rousing brass work. Opening in minimalist fashion with a simple key melody, sweeping strings and the introduction of a celebratory brass section elevate the whole arrangement, and ensure there’s plenty of heart-warming, feel0good vibes to go around.
