The Band: Shrouded in just as much mystery as they were hype, the forever intriguing Jungle came to prominence without even revealing their names, with founders Tom McFarland and John Lloyd-Watson initially operating under the monikers of J and T.  With an emphasis on visual aesthetic, the band has gained plaudits for their meticulous approach to their videos and artwork.

The Sound: Released as an appetiser ahead of their forthcoming sold out UK tour, the syncopated beats, pulsing electronica, Chic guitar and layered falsettos of ‘Julia’ almost falls into soul inflected trip hop territory – the track encapsulating the cutting edge modern funk which saw Jungle nominated for the 2014 Mercury Prize.

The Lowdown: The band tours the UK throughout February and March, but all dates have now sold out. They play their sole Scottish date at Edinburgh’s Liquid Room on Wednesday 25th February.

The Video: Co-directed by founding member J, ‘Julia’ again sees the band explore the impossibly complicated territory of abstract choreography, with a cameo from previous video contributors also featuring at its exit.
