THE
modern generation seems to have a distinct lack of cult heroes, therefore it’s all the more of a talking point when two of them decide to collaborate.

After releasing Honeymoon; her third collection of tragically romantic and bittersweet compositions, in September of last year, the sultry vocalist has now unveiled the video for ‘Freak’ featuring much loved troubadour Father John Misty.

Draped in thae classic Hollywood drama and decadence that defines so many of her best tracks, ‘Freak’ aligns her alluring vocal style with a cloud rap influenced beat that recalls the work of A$ap Rocky and Clams Casino.

Indebted to the idealistic yet excessive lifestyle of California’s elite, ‘Freak’ is another fine example of Del Rey’s trademark style of wistful and intoxicating balladry.

Its accompanying video is every bit as enticing, starring Father John Misty and Del Rey as they cavort around the desert, drop acid and devote themselves to one another in a appealingly dangerous love affair which recalls that of Olivier Stone’s ‘Natural Born Killers’.

Seguing into an entirely different yet equally tripped out scene, Debussy’s Clair De Lune soon begins as the synchronised swimmers from her ‘Music To Watch Boys To’ video return.
