PRODUCER Luke Jay has shared his debut single ‘Nothing To Lose’ – featuring none other than Glaswegian singer-songwriter Russell Stewart.
The producer uses music as an outlet for experimentation – fuelled by a desire to push boundaries and explore new creative avenues. Pairing electronic production techniques with more conventional pop song structures, there’s a real sense of spontaneity to his writing – something that very much comes to light on ‘Nothing To Lose’.
Russell Stewart lends his smooth, sultry vocals to the arrangement – his vocals weaving in and out of the vibrant instrumental with its piercing horns, frenetic beats and heady sampling. All about falling into a cycle of guilt and denial from struggling to keep your life afloat while wrestling with the desire to drown your sorrows, the tumultuous themes are channelled in the feverish arrangement – and it leaves you hooked from the outset.
