A few weeks after winning the Sound of Young Scotland Award at the Scottish Album of the Year Awards 2021, Scottish-Chinese producer and singer-songwriter LVRA has shared a new single called ‘IN YOUR BLOOD’.
Already building a formidable reputation at both sides of the Atlantic, LVRA pulls from a wide array of influences and seamlessly blends them together to create a highly compelling sound that is entirely of her own devising. And we’re pleased to report that ‘IN YOUR BLOOD’ is a powerful progression from her recent second EP ‘TWO’ – it’s sinister, it’s energising and it’s fiercely urgent.
Calling on elements of hip hop, hyperpop and industrial, the track is brimming with tension – LVRA cranks up the energy with a barrage of skittish beats and menacing synths. Another gripping insight into her unique sonic world, her versatile vocal performance is utterly captivating as she attempts to capture the celestial heights she herself feels when dancing in a club.
On the track, she says: “I think this song feels like taking a shot of adrenaline. At some point when we are so far into our animal selves we become lethal creatures. Sometimes in a club I feel like it’s fight or flight that moves my body, as if I’m possessed. It’s the only time apart from sleep when I can switch off. I want people to feel that shit when they listen to my music.”
