LEAVING her Pretty Preachers Club past behind in favour of an exciting new solo venture, Martha May has enthralled us with each release so far.
Now performing under a new guise as Martha May & The Mondays, she’s followed up ‘Hollywood is Dead, Guess This is The End’ and ‘i lie all the time’ with new single ‘Australia’. The songs are set to feature on an upcoming EP titled ‘Lovers and Fools’ – slated for release on 2nd June and said to offer an eclectic mix of indie, jazz, folk and rock influences.
The tracks we’ve heard thus far certainly showcase variety – and ‘Australia’ again marks another tonal shift. This time, she delivers a heart-aching break-up song – her intimate lyrics almost whispered against a melancholic finger-picked guitar. It’s definitely one to pull on the heartstrings.
Martha May & The Mondays play The Hug and Pint on 4th June to launch the forthcoming EP.
