IRISH fast-risers NewDad are combining the worlds of gloomy post-punk and bright, modern pop with their new release – a cover of Charli XCX’s ‘ILY2’.
Putting their own spin on the track, they transform it into a big rock number – with shoegazed-inspired sounds, driving guitars and heavy bass.
Speaking about the release, they said “We’ve always been huge fans of Charli XCX and thought it could be cool to take one of her songs and make our own version. ILY2 with its distorted synths seemed like it could translate very well as a loud shoegazey song so we tried it out!”
