AMERICAN psychedelic rock group Night Beats have shared a kaleidoscopic cover of Beach Boys classic ‘Sloop John B’, which will appear on The Reverberation Appreciation Society’s A Tribute to Pet Sounds.
It’s rather fitting that The Reverberation Appreciation Society have sorted out this release, as they have got The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson on board to play a set dedicated to performing The Pet Sounds in its entirety at Austin’s LEVITATION, an event` originally referred to as the Austin Psych Fest.
Night Beats have produced a distinct turn on the original track, adding shimmery, resounding guitar work while maintaining the authentic surf rock elements within the vocal melodies. While the track is slightly more moody and melancholic than the master, it still maintains the old-style ballroom dance buzz that was always prevalent in The Beach Boys’ timeless tracks.
A Tribute to Pet Sounds features 15 tracks that includes the 13 original songs that featured on the album 50 years ago. There will be two bonus tracks on the album, including ‘Good Vibrations’ and ‘Hang On To Your Ego’. Other artists covering tracks include The Black Angels, The Shivas and Holy Wave.
The album will be released exclusively as a double heavyweight vinyl with gatefold packaging. It can be grabbed at the festival from 29th April, and in stores on 27th May.
