EDINBURGH-based newcomer Nikhita has shared an immersive new single called ‘Golden Child’.

Already well-established on the Scottish live circuit thanks to support slots with Connie Constance and Eva Lazarus, her debut single ‘Aphrodite’ gained acclaim from the likes of BBC Asian Network, BBC Introducing and more.

Now she’s back with another track, written from a very personal perspective. ‘Golden Child’ is about her personal and familial struggles, and the clash between her queer and cultural identity. A hypnotic listen, her personal reflections are delivered against a mesmeric backdrop of South Asian-inspired melodies and R&B infused soundscapes.

Talking about the single, Nikhita elaborates, “its about the failure to live up to traditional expectations despite feeling connected to my heritage, something I feel a lot of people will resonate with today”.
