Glasgow based band that’s been sporadically releasing and playing music since their formation in 2009 yet never fail to deliver the goods upon their re-emergence, Olympic Swimmers have retreated from the shadows and are in the midst of preparing their second LP for a full release later this year.

Having last released a new record way back in 2012 with the astounding No Flags Will Fly and counting Simon Liddell of Frightened Rabbit among their ranks, it looks set to be a triumphant return for this immensely talented outfit.

With that in mind, TTV have the distinct pleasure of premiering the band’s new video for ‘Lyra’, the first taste of what’s to come from their forthcoming record.

The track itself is a minimal yet deeply entrancing affair, filled with heartrendingly pure vocals, ethereal textures and deeply emotive acoustic guitar. Delicately constructed and exercising restraint in order to make its eventual crescendo all the more affecting, ‘Lyra’ serves as a hypnotic introduction to the band’s new material.

Directed by Chris Nelms, its accompanying video acts as an equally stunning accompaniment, comprised almost entirely of intricate and masterfully crafted shadow puppets that conjure up vivid and folklore indebted imagery.

While there’s no solid date as to when we can expect their brand new LP, ‘Lyra’ is available for free download now via their Bandcamp
