PAOLO NUTINI has released his long-awaited fourth album ‘Last Night In The Bittersweet’.

Easily his most expansive record to date, the record encompasses influences such as krautrock, post-punk, folk, soul and classic rock – shifting from dark and enticing motorik numbers to tender, achingly beautiful ballads.

With themes of love, heartbreak and introspection, it’s gripping from the outset – from the dark, swirling sounds of ‘Afterneath’ to the hip-swinging motorik groove of ‘Lose It’ to the rumbling and intimate ‘Acid Eyes’.

One of its many highlights is ‘Radio’. Sitting nicely alongside the brilliant ‘Through The Echoes’, its unhurried soul feels completely timeless – his vocals soaring over countless hooks and a climbing instrumental.

‘Last Night In The Bittersweet’ is an album that may surprise even Nutini’s most ardent of supporters – but it showcases his ability to rip up the rulebook and try something new, the sign of a true artist.

Paolo Nutini headlines TRNSMT Festival on 8th July.
