PARQUET Courts have suddenly became a busy bunch of lads, after announcing details of their fifth album, a slump of tour dates, and the unveiling of new song and video ‘Berlin Got Blurry’.

The band might be sonically lumbering, as if a teenager is bashing away at a guitar in their bedroom, but Parquet Courts are always lyrically at the top of their game. “Berlin got blurry, and my heart started hurting for you,” is the sort of lullaby lyric that renders each chorus. The video, on the other hand, follows lead singer Andrew Savage on his travels around a compellingly idyllic Berlin. The frontman has said the song is about “saying goodbye to someone from the other side of the world,” and the imagery almost definitely emphasises that.

‘Berlin Got Blurry’ is certainly one of the more poppy and accessible songs in Parquet Courts’ catalogue, and the most admirable watches in their entire videography.

Parquet Courts will release Human Performance through Rough Trade Records on April 8th 2016. The band will play a series of tour dates in North America and Europe to promote the release, hitting up London’s Field Day on June 12th, and Edinburgh’s La Belle Angele on June 16th.
