80f77f4eTHE BAND: Exploding onto the scene during an influx  of electronica influenced music in 2007, Passion Pit are one of the few bands from that short lived craze that have managed to maintain both relevancy and ingenuity. Preparing to release their third album in the coming months, the Massachusetts-based outfit have released ‘Where The Sky Hangs’ and an accompanying clip.

THE SOUND: Harking back to the delightful melodies and intricate instrumentation that were at the forefront of synth pop in the 80s, ‘Where The Sky Hangs’ is a beautifully realised track that conjures both feelings of nostalgia and optimism. Led by Michael Angelakos’ trademark falsetto as he proclaims his love and undying loyalty, the utilisation of funk guitar within its latter stages provides an interesting new element to their sound.

THE VIDEO: Consisting of a single image with only minuet changes, it centres upon two young children as they recline among nature. The video appears to be a comment upon the idyllic manner in which we depict love whilst in our formative years.

THE LOWDOWN: Their forthcoming record is entitled Kindred and will be released on  21st April 2015 via Columbia Records.
