PAUL WELLER is an artist who has never shied away from reinvention; or in certain cases, innovation throughout the course of his career, as demonstrated by his forays into everything from krautrock to psychedelia. In keeping with this ethos, it’s very fitting that the legendary artist would enlist the services of none other than Edinburgh’s utterly undefinable Young Fathers to produce a remix of his forthcoming album’s title track ‘Saturns Pattern.’
Opening with a simple, metronome like beat whilst synths and foreboding strings bubble under the surface, it is immediately elevated by Weller’s heralded dulcet tones as a distinctly eastern aesthetic emerges similar to the work of The Gaslamp Killer. Featuring many of the intricacies that make the work of Young Fathers so entirely enthralling, the track establishes a level of bluesy reverence due to the inclusion of the Leith Congregational Choir.
Saturns Pattern will be released on the 18th May 2015 via Solid Bond.
