INDIE rock Montreal-based trio Plants and Animals have just released a new album called Waltzed In From the Rumbling, and to celebrate they have shared a music video to the second single from the album ‘No Worries Gonna Find Us’.

‘No Worries Gonna Find Us’ comes from Plants and Animals’ lead guitarist and vocalist Warren Spicer after he was invited to speak on a local Montreal radio station about fundraising for mental health organisations. It was the day after his “frightening” experience disclosing his obsessive-compulsive disorder that the band hit the studio and knocked out the identity behind the new track. When Spicer spoke to the Montreal Gazette, he said “I just sang the words ‘no worries gonna find us’ and it was a kind of affirmation – I had the confidence to sing that and mean it.”

Even though the track initially sounded like a Gary Glitter song, it was shaped into a Fleet Foxes-esque, contemporary tune with twanging guitar lines, echoing vocal melodies with synths and occasional strings lying beneath the avant-garde indie soul.

The video was directed by Gabriel Coutu-Dumonts who explains“we wanted to show the band doing what they do best, their honesty and generosity as artists. A music video’s full potential is enabled by the juxtaposition of two ideas; The true meaning of the song and the subtext we visually attach to it. We wanted to evoke that fragile moment of clarity suspended between angst and peacefulness.”

Waltzed In From the Rumbling is out now, and the band will perform a trek across the United States up until June. In the middle of their scheduled tour dates, they will play London’s Hoxton on 31st May 2016.
