BACK in January, we brought you the premiere of Alice Bentley’s debut single ‘Come Up’ – an instantly addictive slice of indie-pop that has been on our playlist ever since.

A track that gained plaudits from the likes of BBC Scotland, The List, Amazing Radio and more before racking up over 20,000 streams on Spotify, it was a vibrant introduction; one that displayed heaps of potential and marked her out as a hopeful addition to the nation’s pop landscape.

Now, after teaming up once again with Stewart Brock and Callum Wiseman of PRIDES fame, the singer is back with another helping of glorious, shimmering pop called ‘Perfect Stranger’.

Proving that the success of her debut was no mere flash in the pan, ‘Perfect Stranger’ reinforces her pop credentials tenfold. As we heard on ‘Come Up’, the same kind of bombastic eighties melodies, dreamy synths, soaring guitars and big pop choruses are employed but this time there is an underlying sadness to the lyrical sentiment. Turning to the age-old formula of pairing emotive lyrics with big, catchy synth-pop melodies, it’s harnessed brilliantly by Wiseman’s gleaming, full pop production.

Speaking of the track, Alice says : “Perfect Stranger is about bumping into your ex on a night out and subsequently having a cry in the club. Like any good synth pop from the 80’s, the lyrical sentiment is one of sadness but shrouded in the bombast of a major key pop song. Starting off with dreamy synths, then moving into a full pop production with massive sounding drums, synth bass, soaring guitars, and big, catchy melodies this song will ensure the listener is either dancing or crying”

Written alongside PRIDES frontman Stewart Brock, produced by Callum Wiseman and recorded in the comfort of her own living room, it’s another pop gem to add to her repertoire.

TTV are delighted to bring you the premiere of ‘Perfect Stranger’ below.
