THE BAND: One of Scotland’s most established bands in the realm of alternative rock, Edinburgh’s We Were Promised Jetpacks have released a number of prolific albums and toured extensively throughout the world. Having released another well received album last year, the four piece have released the accompanying visuals for their latest single.
THE SOUND: Focusing on the human psyches’ propensity for problems with excess and our animalistic urges for outlandish consumption, ‘Peaks and Troughs’ is an emotional track with a brooding intro before descending into a percussion led confession. Cathartic in nature, the poignance of the track is complimented by its intermittent use of piano.
THE VIDEO: Set within the stereotypical family event of a scenic picnic, the video soon erodes from its idealistic premise into something altogether more sinister. Centering on the family’s gluttonous appetites and ending on a particularly dark note, the video manages to encompass the central themes of the track albeit via an unconventional look at a social situation.
THE LOWDOWN; Taken from the LP Unraveling, the new single is released via FatCat Records. The band are confirmed for 2000 Trees festival and are currently on a European tour. Scroll down for the UK tour dates.
