Brogeal ‘Go Home Tae Yer Bed’
Brogeal have shared another track from their upcoming debut album ‘Tuesday Paper Club’, out on 17th October. More melancholic and stripped back than the songs we’ve heard previously, it showcases the band’s versatility and craftsmanship. Having already heard the likes of ‘Vicar Street Days’ on ‘Friday On My Mind’, the upcoming album was recorded at Black Bay Studio on the Isle of Lewis, in collaboration with Irish Producer/Engineer/Mixer Richie Kennedy, best known for his work with the likes of U2, The Libertines, Cardinals, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Dua Lipa and Kylie.
Daniel Harkins said: “The thing about our music is that it transcends all age groups,” notes vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Daniel Harkins. “You’ve got 14-year-old boys with their mums, they’re all going mental, you’ve got old punks, middle-aged women, young adults, old people, everybody’s digging it, you know? There’s something for everybody because you’ve got your folky influences, The Pogues, with this indie edge and pop sensibilities.”
Brontes ‘Cognitive Dissonance’
Marking their first release of 2025, Brontes are back with a new track called ‘Cognitive Dissonance’ – a track ‘about not being able to control the emotions of frustration and jealousy’. Despite coming from a place of vexation, the track showcases their poppier side with upbeat, sunny melodies and close harmonies. Instantly addictive, it’s a welcome return from the four-piece that’s set to feature on a debut album, out next year.
Shay O’Dowd ‘BACK IN A HEARTBEAT’
Carving out a reputation for his emotionally charged pop tunes and personal songwriting, Shay O’Dowd has followed up his recent debut EP with a new single ‘BACK IN A HEARTBEAT’. Rooted in those familiar themes of youthful nostalgia, love and self-reflection, it’s a driving, guitar-led anthem full of singalong refrains that showcases his knack for crafting huge pop tunes.
Liv Dawn ‘Written in the Stars’
Scottish singer-songwriter Liv Dawn has shared her uplifting new single Written In The Stars, the third track to be unveiled from her forthcoming EP Hopeful Wandering, out 17 October. Mixing folk, pop, and soft rock with driving drums, bright electric guitar and Liv’s powerful vocals, Written In The Stars is an anthemic, heartfelt song about feeling lost but holding on to hope. Written during a period of uncertainty, the track explores the belief that even in life’s darkest moments, there’s light ahead.
“I wrote Written In The Stars at a time when I didn’t know what would come next, but I had faith that things would work out,” says Liv. “The song reflects life’s ups and downs – finding light in the dark, hiding our scars, and trusting that everything happens for a reason. It’s emotional, but ultimately it’s about hope.”
Admiral Fallow ‘Shortest Night’
Admiral Fallow’s fifth studio album ‘First Of The Birds’ comes out later this year, and our latest preview is ‘Shortest Night’. The Scottish band have always expertly balanced fiery passion with tender restraint, and that comes to fruition once again as personal lyrics are blended with boisterous instrumentation. Steered by the Flaming Lips and Springsteen, it’s direct and punchy, with a warm, heartfelt core.
samxemma ‘HOT PEOPLE MAKE HOT MUSIC’
Manchester-based transatlantic duo samxemma have shared their new EP ‘Hot People Make Hot Music’. A collision of glitch-heavy, speaker-rattling electronics and emotionally unfiltered pop songwriting, samxemma’s music sits somewhere between the sonic extremity of early Crystal Castles or Arca, the diaristic chaos of Tirzah and Mura Masa’s leftfield edges, and the immersive melodrama of Porter Robinson. And their debut EP lives up to the hype – it’s infectious, creative and original, marking them out as one to watch.
