Walt Disco ‘Coup de foudre’

walt disco are back with a thrilling new single, ‘Coup de foudre’. The first release on their new home of EMI North, the Glasgow band have also announced details of intimate summer shows around the UK. Built around the French phrase for a sudden, electric connection, ‘Coup de foudre’ is a lustful, fast-paced jolt of energy that channels the raw immediate rush of 2000s dancefloor intensity and indie-sleaze. Frontperson Jocelyn describes it as “a horny, chaotic” song, with the track channeling the sharp directness of Yeah Yeah Yeahs alongside euphoric synths and propulsive hooks..

Gallus ‘Letter From America’

Gallus have shared their take on Proclaimers classic ‘Letter From America’. The Scottish band first performed the cover during a packed out show at McChuills in Glasgow last month and it gained instant approval from their fervent fanbase. Since then, videos of the performance have racked up huge views and they’ve received hundreds of requests for a recorded version – which has now duly arrived. The track itself laments the loss of community and industrial decline, particularly during the Highland Clearances and the Thatcher era – something which still feels relevant today. But Gallus add their own gritty, spiky edge to the track – which also takes on extra relevance given Scotland’s qualification for the World Cup.

Speaking on the cover lead vocalist Barry Dolan says – “The Proclaimers have some of the most beautiful songs and it just makes you so proud to be Scottish. This song is for everyone in Scotland. Letter for America is about routing for the wee guys and that’s what we’re going to do this world cup campaign, and that’s what we should do as a society anyway!”

Guitarist Eamon Ewins continues: “We wanted to put our spin on it, as people interpret it sentimentally but it’s not a sentimental song… it’s got a lot of emotion in it.”

Dead Pony ‘Eat My Dust!’

Two years on from the release of their excellent debut album ‘IGNORE THIS’, Dead Pony are back and taking things up a gear with their new EP ‘Eat My Dust!’. Known for their intoxicating blend of alt-rock, punk and nu-metal, they throw themselves into these heavy sounds more than ever – dialling it all up to 11 while staying abs0lutely, unapologetically themselves. Always ready to challenge expectations, it’s an endless thrill ride – one that starts with the unexpected and atmospheric ‘What If’ before diving head first into an onslaught of riffs and distorted vocals. From the riotous ‘BOOM!’ to the pummelling electronic breakdown on the title track, the band expertly cram so many ideas into the EP’s runtime but none of it feels out of place – all thanks to guitarist’s Blair Crichton bold and confident production. The final track shines bright in particular – gradually folding into something huge.

kitti ‘makin’ changes’

kitti has shared a brand-new single called ‘makin’ changes’, her first release since her 2024 debut album ‘Somethin’ In The Water’. Ushering in an exciting new chapter, the track finds her embracing change on both a personal and musical level. The track itself indicates a shift towards a more vibrant, grooving funk sound, blending her soulful storytelling and classic jazz influences with an infectious funk rhythm. It provides the perfect backdrop to the singer’s tale of self-discovery and pride – with the song serving as both a ‘coming out’ anthem and a declaration of independence. She says: “This song is about FINALLY being honest with myself,” says kitti. “It’s a song about, stepping into who you really are, and celebrating that without apology!” Rich in texture and vibrant in sound, it’s a rousing return from the talented singer.

Eriff ‘The Birds’

Eriff, aka Stuart Ramage, has shared a poignant new single ‘The Birds’. Opening in typically understated fashion, it’s his ability to conjure such a moving atmosphere through carefully chosen words and delicate acoustic melodies that really shines. With the help of Roan Ballantine on production duties, the track gradually envelops the listener in swelling vocal harmonies and lush, layered instrumentation — a slow build that feels earned rather than imposed. It’s the kind of song that creeps up on you, leaving a quiet ache long after the final note fades. A beautifully crafted piece of songwriting from one of Scotland’s most thoughtful voices

Shay O’Dowd ‘Time & Space’

Known for his heartfelt and vulnerable songwriting, Shay O’Dowd has shared more upbeat new single – perfect for a summer of festivals. In Shay’s words: “I wrote Time & Space when my mate was going through a tough time with his partner. He opened up to me over a pint after a gig and told me he just needed a little breathing room and that might save them. The next day (hungover) I wrote “Time & Space”. I wanted to write it in a way that felt fun and lighthearted without compromising the message that there are two sides to every coin. I recorded this one with my mates in Glasgow and it’s the first song I’m releasing with live drums etc. I really wanted this song to sound like it’s being played in a live room and I feel like we achieved just that.”

Abbie Gordon ‘Wet Rain’

Abbie Gordon is building on her growing momentum with the release of a new track called ‘Wet Rain’. Known for crafting high-quality, catchy pop tunes with witty lyrics, the new offering continues this rich vein of form – sitting somewhere between CMAT and Sabrina Carpenter. The song captures the rush of infatuation felt for the first time, through Abbie’s always witty pop prism and The Nocturns’ lush, timeless production.

She said “When I started making music, I’d never really experienced a relationship first-hand. So whenever I wrote love songs, they were usually inspired by imagined situations, stories from friends, or romances I’d seen on TV. Wet Rain is the first song I wrote that comes from a completely real place. It’s about the excitement and infatuation that come with the beginning of a new relationship, those intense emotions, constant thoughts about one person, and the feeling that you may have finally found ‘the one.’ Writing this song felt far more personal and honest than anything I’d created before, because for the first time I wasn’t telling someone else’s story, I was telling my own.”

corto.alto ‘THIEF’

After teaming up with Mick Jenkins on the brilliant ‘WHO DIS’, the supremely talented corto.alto has shared a new track called ‘THIEF’. With chopped classical strings, thumping breakbeats and Jersey club rhythms, it’s a track that feels built for both the dancefloor and deep headphone dives. Endlessly creative and riveting, Liam Shortall continues to push his jazz-inspired sound down exciting new routes. He said: ““I’m buzzing to finally release this one. We’ve been playing it live for a while now and over the last six months it’s really grown into something that feels like a new sonic for me. I’ve always loved fat bass riffs and breakbeats, so it felt like the right time to throw them together and make THIEF. The title came from that feeling of time constantly slipping away from you, whether you notice it or not.”

THEATRE ‘You Are’

Limerick five-piece THEATRE seized our attention with their debut single ‘The Fall’ recently, and now they’ve announced details of their first EP. ‘Incarnate’ comes out next month and will feature this new released single ‘You Are’ – a track that lurches from the dreamy to the heavy and intense. Reminiscent of The Cranberries in their more intense moments, frontwoman Maeve O’Shea is the real star of the piece – her voice is tender one minute and towering the next, guiding us through the turbulent instrumental as they juxtapose gauzy, dreampop moments with biting rock crescendos and codas.
