The sound: The track itself is a very catchy affair, featuring his usual combination of rap laden verses and a falsetto tinged chorus. It has somewhat of a psychedelic feel to it, combining chiming guitars with distinctly poppy aesthetic not unlike some of Jamie T’s recent work. It was produced by Dan Carey who has previously worked with acclaimed acts such as Glasgow’s own Franz Ferdinand and Hot Chip.
The video: Directed by Dexter Navy, the video sees Only Real, aka Niall Galvin, eating some questionable eggs and donuts for breakfast with strange occurrences ensuing.
The lowdown: ‘Yesterdays’ will be released on Virgin/EMI on the 26th January 2015, with his debut album slated for early 2015. The album has been recorded in both London with the aforementioned Carey and in Atlanta with Ben Allen, best known for his work with Washed Out.
