RICHARD ASHCROFT enjoyed a sensational return this year with his new solo album These People, selling out shows in countries far and wide as he reinstated his position as one of the most influential and prodigious songwriters of his generation. Set to end 2016 on a high, the former Verve frontman has revealed a new video for his latest single ‘Out of My Body’ along with the announcement of two special shows in December.

The track is the fourth single to be released from These People, and follows the likes of ‘Hold On’, ‘They Don’t Own Me’ and ‘This Is How It Feels’. A fan favourite on the album, it is an example of Ashcroft mixing his traditional anthemic style of writing with new electronic sounds and textures; a prevalent feature of his new material. His distinctive and impassioned vocal delivers the politically conscious lyrics over a backdrop of vibrant synths and dance beats; the song transforming into a strident anthem with a heady concoction of dramatic strings and electronic loops. The accompanying video matches the bright nature of the song with its grainy live footage of one of his performances.

With the new video and single comes the announcement that Ashcroft will be playing two special shows in Liverpool’s Echo Arena (7th December) and The O2 in London (9th December) towards the end of the year, during which he will be joined by the Heritage Orchestra. Fans will be excited to know that he is working with long-time collaborator Wil Malone on the two shows, with whom he worked on classic albums such as A Northern Soul and Urban Hymns. He will be performing a host of material from These People and his extensive back catalogue with the orchestra, promising a memorable occasion for all those who attend.
