IDLEWILD frontman Roddy Woomble is back with news of a solo album and a brand new single called ‘Lo Soul’.

On past solo records, Woomble has shown his more experimental and introspective side and this new offering is no different. A far cry from the anthems and angst we’re used to hearing with Idlewild, it’s a mellow piano-driven number, enlivened by a clicking beat and the gentle hum of a cosmic synth line.

Produced and mixed by recent collaborator Andrew Mitchell (aka Andrew Wasylyk), the track offers up an intriguing juxtaposition; strange and otherworldly yet soothing and serene at the same time.

A mix of optimism and pessimism, it marks the beginning of another exciting chapter for the frontman.

With a full-length album to follow later this year, check out the new song below.
