GLASGOW crooner Russell Stewart has shared a new single ‘Align’.
Unveiling exciting new dynamics to his songwriting, the song opens with intimate piano and vocals before progressively adding more intricate layers of glimmering synths and driving beats. Exploring the difficulties of making a relationship work, the music emulates his growing frustration – becoming increasingly trippy and all-consuming. Produced by Stuart Ramage and Roan Ballantine of VanIves, the pair’s influence can be heard in the innovative arrangement – their production melding seamlessly with Stewart’s smooth and malleable vocal.
Speaking on the track, Russell said: “Align is about the struggle that comes with striving to make the start of a relationship work. Putting blame on the other person for all failings until you realise that you too are at fault, then accepting that you just don’t fit together and it wasn’t meant to be. This track marks the beginning of a new musical period in my life.”
