WITH a voice that leaves you mesmerised with every slight word or intonation, Norwegian singer-songwriter Siv Jakobsen effortlessly draws you in to an deeply intimate world with her latest track ‘Like I Used To’.

Currently gearing up for the release of her debut album later in the year, it comes as no surprise to find out that the artist has worked with producer Matt Ingram (Laura Marling, The Staves) on her new material. Depicting a failed relationship over subtle piano melodies and soft guitar strums, her enchanting vocal is reminiscent of Marling’s in its ability to communicate emotion with every captivating lyric. Joined by subtle guest vocals from Bear’s Den’s Andrew Davie, her crushing delivery is testament to her undoubted abilities as a bold and compelling lyricist (“Your silence reeks of cheating / reeks of her, I can sense her in your mouth / on my neck”).

The track has now been accompanied by a video which was filmed by Jakobsen’s long-time collaborator Jorgen Nordby. Following the singer on a road trip around the stunning rural scenery of her native country Norway, the simple cut works as a very fitting accompaniment to the track.

Strikingly intimate and remarkably poised, ‘Like I Used To’ is the first track to be lifted from the singer-songwriter’s upcoming debut album, slated for release later this year. Check out the video below.
